Fishing Corner Website Review

I personally came across the Pinnacle ski about a year ago at last year’s top 20 competition where a number of the competitors who made this exclusive event were using the Ski. This ski had a reputation of being a log, slow and clumsy. While I was at the event I decided to take the ski out for a test and see if this was true. The weather conditions were not great and only one of the Top 20 paddlers made the plunge to launch.

As I launched and found myself streaming through the big waves and handling the tough conditions with ease, I made the decision to switch to Pinnacle. In the past I have found that wind makes it incredibly hard to paddle in a straight line due to the nose been blown from side to side. The Pinnacles hull design, allows you to paddle anywhere and in any conditions, the line you are paddling is not affected by the wind.

When I got home, I purchased one of these skis to give it a full run and now with a year of fishing off this vessel I have some extremely positive feedback.

1.) When I got my ski the 1st thing I did was weigh it and surprisingly the ski was 27.5kg’s after guys had said the ski was a log this was far from the truth. In fact I am able to take my ski off and on my car by myself.

2.) Another surprising factor about this ski was its speed, It doesn’t look like it would generate much but it did, again it came down to hull design. With the V hull the surface tension of the water (The most Friction) is displaced away from the hull which increases ease of paddling and also the speed of the craft.

3.) I’m a spearo and a fisherman so space is a big issue for me, I can now fit all my fishing equipment and my spearfishing gear on my ski. The main hatch is huge and the 2 back hatches make separating your gear that much easier.

4.) Stability is a big factor for many and I can say with confidence that this ski is stable and will suit the bigger angler who would usually battle in this area.

5.) The most amazing feature on this ski is it’s strength.

I used the ski at the Paindane comp this year and I was able to stay out fishing for the entire day every day because the bad weather or wind didn’t have a huge effect on me. I was able to place well in the comp due to the extended time the ski gave me in the water.

Recently at the last top 20 qualifying event we had such bad conditions that the waves were breaking over our boats but even in these conditions we were able to fish, I placed 1st in this event, the pinnacle gave me more time on the water and I was able to launch through the bad conditions.

I would encourage you to give the ski a “test drive “ if you are in the market for a new ski, you will not be disappointed, don’t make an uniformed decision when you buy a ski, take it out for a fish and launch, you will be pleasantly surprised.
